Stuff we need, or at least want…
OldSarumGirl has been ill for the last few days. We haven’t needed to visit the GP this time, but wouldn’t it be great if there was a doctor’s surgery here in Old Sarum (instead of trekking to town and paying for parking)?
Way back when the plans for the new development were submitted, there were proposals for a school, shops and land for a doctor’s surgery among other things. There was also a phase plan which clearly shows that the land with shops and a surgery (between the School and the Portway) should have been developed before many of the areas of housing that are already standing.
As you may gather, I’ve been studying those documents! I also feel strongly that there should be a wider knowledge in the community here that the plans exist and that there are promises we should hold the developers to.
Other people feel the same way, broadly speaking, although I expect everyone has a pet topic they would like to see progress made on. There is to be a meeting of all residents of Old Sarum this month, as advertised in the Community Rooms newsletter. Thursday 24th May at the School 7.30-9.30pm. This should be a chance to bring all our concerns and form together to present a united voice when approaching councillors and developers etc. I’m going to be there and I hope somebody from every house will too.
